I've seen the light

Hi all,
Just a quick post today.  The Kitchen is progressing well and should be finished on Tuesday.  It will be great to cook something in the oven for once.  We're getting fed up with Microwave meals now.

Had a bit of luck the other day whilst having a look on Ebay.  I managed to buy our very first item for AmyJo.

Its a Francis F9 Searchlamp.  Chap was selling some on Ebay and I managed to catch this one for £450.00.  I did bid on Lesley's one from Caxton but got beaten to it by just £10.00, still I thought this one was reasonably priced as it's in beautiful condition and works.  We're hoping to have Chromium or stainless fittings and this should look great on AmyJo so I could not resistWe're going to pick it up on our way home from Frenwoods in two weeks time.

Plastered and going Green.

Hi all,
Its been a whilst since my last blog as its been all systems go with the new kitchen.  Since I last posted we have had all the electrics re done including the new consumer unit.
Electrician Carl tidies up all the wiring

Looks a mess but Carl did a great job

and the finnish job
After that the walls were lined with plasterboard and skimmed We even had the floor levelled as it slopes by 1 inch front to back

And finally yours truely painted it all to her indoors' exact specifications

So now we're ready for the fitters to move in on Wednesday and start the fit out.

Meantime we called Fernwoods and have arranged our first planning meeting on 14th February so hopefully I'll have something more boaty to talk about.  We'll also be placing the order and signing the contract as well.  Things are starting to come together at last.  As my old grandfather used to say things come to those who wait.  So now its head down to the details of AmyJo's plan and layout.

Kitchen Refit and a Broken Door Lock

Whilst waiting our turn to have AmyJo built we're taking the opportunity to have our kitchen refitted at the bungalow.

"What has this got to do with the boat?" I hear you say.  Well actually quite a bit.  You see, our kitchen is quite small at 6feet by 8feet.  About the same size as the galley we hope to have in AmyJo in fact.  The idea being that we hope to learn from the new kitchen at home and incorporate what works well in AmyJo's galley.

So, with New Year out of the way, I set too and made a start last weekend and now the kitchen has gone from this

Before, old drab and falling apart

to this in one day
Note the old fuse box.  This will be replaced.

The plaster was falling off so was easy to remove

Next the old Lath and plaster ceiling is coming down this weekend and a new plasterboard one going up.  The sparky is coming on Monday to do the electrics and the plasterer the following weekend.  After that its up to the kitchen fitters.

And now for something completely different....

You know that old song "Oh dear what can the matter be two old dears got locked in the.... well we have re-written the words to it after an eventful evening tonight!

Oh dear what can the matter be
Chris really did get locked in the lavatory
She was there from 5 until 6
Until Steve got her out by removing door.

Yes, yes, I know the last bit does not rhyme but yes it did happen and Chris was locked in for nearly an hour, heheh.  I had to remove the hinge pins to open the door.  So with no lock on the door until tomorrow we now have to sing while we go.
